Retail

Overview

Shopping centres of today are meeting and entertainment spaces for the community and everyday workplaces for retail staff. All of these occupants should be assured of the health, safety and comfort of the built environment. Centre owners manage the associated risks through regular appraisal of indoor conditions and mechanical plant.

At QED Environmental Services we work with institutional owners to manage indoor environment compliance and performance improvement in retail centres across Australia.

We are the only NATA accredited company in Australia for Indoor Air Quality Inspections.

Relevant Services

Indoor Air and Water Quality

Consensus research shows pollutants in indoor air may occur more frequently and at higher concentrations than in outdoor air. There is clear evidence that indoor air is the major source for workplace exposure to airborne contaminants, and limits for these are set in OH&S Regulations around Australia.

QED is one of Australia’s leading Indoor Air Quality consultancies. The scope of our compliance programmes in retail centres includes sampling the common spaces and inspecting air handling units for compliance with standards.

Hazardous Materials

To ensure the safety of occupants and contractors, regulations oblige all retail centres to maintain current registers of hazardous materials in their structure, including asbestos. QED schedules regular audit inspections and because we specialise in shopping centre compliance programmes, clients benefit from our tailored online service to keep their registers up to date.

Cooling Tower Risk Assessments

The risks from contaminated water in cooling towers require careful management. QED undertakes annual risk assessments and through online tools ensures that monthly water treatment and analysis is always compliant.

Who we work with

For 25 years QED has worked in retail centres across all of the major cities of Australia, assisting institutional owners such as Lend Lease, Vicinity and Crown Resorts with compliant and practical solutions.
