Senate Reopens Submissions to the Committee Inquiry Into Non-Conforming Building Products

On June 23, 2015 the Senate referred an inquiry into non-conforming building products to the Senate Economics References Committee for inquiry and report by October 12, 2015. Following several extensions, and the cessation of the previous Parliament, on October 11, 2016 the Senate agreed to the committee’s recommendation that this inquiry be re-adopted in the current Parliament – to be reported by 25 May, 2017.

All correspondence and previous submissions have been made available to the new Committee and the committee has consented to refer to all evidence previously received. On October 13, 2016 the Committee reopened submissions, and as part of the broader inquiry, resolve to inquire into the illegal importation of products containing asbestos.

More information can be found, and submissions are accepted at the Parliament of Australia website. Submissions close on December 1, 2016.
